Turn a regular grocery run into a math game. Kids hunt for the best deal per ounce or per item while you shop.

You need a list of 3–5 items, a pencil, and the better deal calculator on your phone for the checkout lane reveal.

How to play

Pick items with two sizes or brands, like cereal, yogurt, or juice. Give each child one aisle assignment.

Write down price and size for two options. Do not grab yet. Compare unit price first.

Winner picks which one goes in the cart. Loser picks the next aisle.

Scoring

1 point for finding the lower unit price. 1 bonus point for explaining why in one sentence.

If the cheaper bulk size would spoil before you use it, say so. Smart shopping beats blind bulk buying.

After the trip

Enter the best find in the better deal calculator. Talk about how much you saved vs. the expensive option.

Try the price hunt again next month. Kids often start reading shelf tags on their own.

Check your understanding

Can you spot the cheaper option per unit?
