A budget is a plan for your money. It answers: How much do I get? Where does it need to go? What is left for fun?

Budgets are not punishment. They are how you afford what you care about without stress.

List your income

Include allowance, job pay, gifts you expect to save, and any regular money. Use monthly amounts even if you are paid weekly (multiply weekly by 4.33).

Be realistic. A one-time birthday gift is nice, but do not build your monthly budget around it.

List your expenses

Teen expenses might include phone bill share, gas, clothes, eating out, subscriptions, and gifts. Some are fixed (same each month), some flex.

Separate needs (transport to work, required fees) from wants (concert tickets, extra snacks). Pay needs and savings first.

Give every dollar a job

Income minus planned spending should equal zero on paper. Every dollar is assigned to save, spend, or give before the month starts.

If you are short, cut wants or earn more. If you have extra, add to savings or a fun goal.

Use simple tools

Start with the allowance split calculator for a quick save/spend/give plan. Track spending in notes for two weeks to see where money actually goes.
